Okay, first of all, how cute is the picture below? It was sent home with her from daycare and I am just so in love with it. They are sooooo good to her, to us, and the other families. I’m so happy we found them and that by some miracle they had an opening when they did.
Thanksgiving Shenanigans
We did the family shuffle for Thanksgiving, like just about everyone else! We started with Ryan’s parents and had lunch there. It was honestly right in the middle of of her usual nap time, so after a bit of hugs and kisses from grandma and grandpa, she was out! She tried some sweet potatoes, but honestly not much. I wouldn’t call it a success, and I totally felt like I was under a lot of pressure with everyone watching.
Then we went over to Grandpa Jeffrey’s for dinner. It was delicious, and again, Temen slept through most of it! Okay, she slept through dinner. Afterwards she spent lots of time with grandpa having out, dancing, chatting, and watching TV. We all had so much fun being together — but I miss my baby brother who is studying abroad right now. (Insert whiny emoji here.)
Black Friday
Black Friday we rested. And rested. And rested. And ate leftovers sent home with us from Jeffrey’s. And rested. And took pictures of our adorable sleeping baby.
Saturday Decorating
Ryan is a Christmas fanatic. I like Christmas, but not with the same enthusiasm as him. So while he is ready to decorate for the holidays as soon as Starbucks releases the PSL, I need some time to process. Our compromise is anytime after Thanksgiving. Normally this is the day after, but this year it was a whopping two whole days after Thanksgiving.
“Miracle in the Making” ornament my mom gave us last year when I was pregnant. Now she’s here!
Adding this because my dog is super photogenic.
In this picture he is singing Michael Buble Christmas songs to her. I have video, it’s amazing and so sweet.
I think this is my favorite picture taken of her to date. Is she not perfect? Look at that belly. Look at that face!
Sunday Mealtime
Okay. I was at home alone, she had just nursed. I thought, this is it. Let’s try solids for real this time. I sat her down, got some pureed bananas, and we did it. She didn’t not, not like it. She also didn’t love it. She finished about half of a container, which my friend Steph thinks is way too little. But she’s just starting out! I feel good about half a container to a container a day for a while until she gets the hang of it. (It’s Tuesday today (sorry I’m so late!) and we didn’t even have any today. I did, however, give her a little food teether that she gnawed on for a hot minute.)
I’m not going to lie, I got a little emotional thinking about incorporating food into her diet more and more. Breastfeeding is the worst thing, but also the best thing. The thought of her not needing me, or needing me less, makes me sad. More on that later, I guess.
That was our long weekend!
xxoo,
Samm
